Welcome to ADHDcure.org, where anyone can access completely free information about Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), its symptoms, how it is treated, and how you and your loved ones can better work with and socialize with those who have it. In addition to information, this site will provide links to a variety of organizations to keep everyone involved current on research advances and innovations in medicine and treatment. A.D.H.D. – THIS SITE’S REASON FOR BEING The stigma of disorder and a lack of information are significant barriers to treatment of many adults and children with ADD/ADHD. Parents may worry that their child will be "labeled," not having enough information about the disorder, or not knowing where to go for help. These are also major barriers that may prevent many parents or caregivers from seeking proper evaluation and treatment for children with ADHD. HISTORY OF THIS SITE This site is sponsored by the ADHD Cure Support Group. Following a few technical difficulties with the Internet, the original version of this site ceased to exist – it just disappeared for some reason – and needed to be reconstructed. In the autumn of 2008, a few students at the University of Texas – Pan American collaborated to recreate ADHDcure.org, and ever since then this site has been expanding. These students included two physical therapy students who volunteer their time working with children who have ADHD, another student who has ADHD and has lived with its consequences, and the mother of the featured boy – Shawn – who has had many challenges in learning to cope with the lifelong disorder. THE LOGO The logo of this website is titled The Shining Light. This group came together because they felt frustrated and isolated, and there were few places to turn for support and information about AD/HD.
Goals/Priorities To serve as a local face-to-face family support group for families and individuals affected by AD/HD. |
